Struggling to keep your opponents on the mat after the takedown?

Takedowns mean nothing if you don't understand how to control explosive Wrestlers, MMA Fighters, or ADCC Style Jiu-Jitsu Players who don't want to concede bottom position.

This instructional breaks down 2+ hours of basic folkstyle wrestling techniques that will help anyone in grappling/mma to keep their opponents on the mat, pin them once they've got them down to the mat, return their opponents when they stand up, and how to gas them out in the process of it all.

If you want to become a better overall grappler, whether you wrestle or just practice submission grappling, then this instructional is for you.

What do I know about stay on TOP?

Hey, my name is Brandon Reed. Here's a little more about me, my career in Wrestling, and Jiu-Jitsu.

In 2024 I qualified for the biggest Jiu-Jitsu competition in the World, ADCC, as a result of my high flying, top heavy, Wrestling game. I also won a No-Gi Pans & World Title in Jiu-Jitsu in the same year.

Before Jiu-Jitsu I was a Wrestler in the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) where I went on to finish my career 90-19 and finished as a 3x National Champion.

In 2021, my final year, I put a huge focus on my top game, in particular keeping the bigger heavy weights down after takedowns and finding my way to pins.

In 2020 I had a good year, won my 2nd title, but only had 2 pins on the year. It was bad. In 2021 in order to chase my dream of becoming the NAIA Wrestler of the year, I knew I needed to assert more dominance on top.

That meant that takedowns were NOT ENOUGH!

I needed to ride my opponents out, mat return them, tilt them, and ultimately look to pin them.

I knew I needed pure domination to win the big trophy that eluded me in my first two title runs.

Well, in the summer before my final season I put a big emphasis on my top game. I would go on to finish the 2021 season 17-0 with 14 Pins in the first period (if you don't know there are 3 periods/aka rounds in folkstyle wrestling) and would go on to achieve my goal of being the 2021 NAIA Nationals Most Outstanding Wrestler of the Tournament & the NAIA Wrestler of the Year all thanks to leveling up my top game.

In this instructional I'll teach you the techniques that I used to 7x my Pins Rate in College and the same techniques I use now as a Professional Jiu-Jitsu athlete to hold down my more explosive counters parts in competition.

These pinning and mat returning techniques are particularly helpful in rulesets like IBJJF or ADCC where athletes are rewarded for their ability to keep moving after a takedown occurs.

You'll learn how to pin, turn, mat return, and become a dominant force on top.
