Brandon's Bio

Brandon Reed Bio

Brandon began wrestling in 2013 at Iroquois High School in Louisville, Kentucky.

Growing up, he struggled with confidence and described himself as an overweight, insecure kid. In 2013, he attempted to change that by joining the football team. When that didn’t work out, he found his way to the high school wrestling team instead.

In his freshman season, Brandon lost 60 pounds and fell in love with the sport, finishing the season with a 4-14 record. The following year, he reached the state finals and ultimately became a 3x High School All-American at events like Fargo Nationals (4th in 2016, 7th in 2017) and Flo Nationals (4th in 2017).

His success earned him a full scholarship to Lindsey Wilson College, an NAIA school.

At Lindsey Wilson, Reed compiled an impressive 89-19 college wrestling record, earning victories over multiple NCAA Division I national qualifiers. In his final three seasons, he remained undefeated against NAIA competition, capturing three conference titles and three national championships at the 285-pound weight class.

In 2021, he went 17-0 to win his final national title and was named Mid-South Conference Wrestler of the Year, NAIA Wrestler of the Year, and Most Outstanding Wrestler at both the conference and national tournaments.

That same year, he also won the Gorrian Award for recording the most pins in the least amount of time at the NAIA national tournament, pinning his first four opponents.

He capped off his collegiate career with a 7-3 victory over Grand View’s Greg Hagan, who would go on to become an NAIA national champion himself.

After retiring from wrestling in 2021, Reed transitioned to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Since then, he has won IBJJF No-Gi Worlds at both the blue and purple belt levels, captured No-Gi Pans at purple belt, medaled at ADCC Trials, competed at the 2024 ADCC World Championships, won multiple ADCC Open events, and was recently announced as a competitor in the 2025 Craig Jones Invitational, representing Pedigo Submission Fighting (Daisy Fresh).
